FAQ

  • A hackathon is a social event, typically lasting several days, in which a large number of people come together to collaborate on software projects to solve problems, meet new people and compete for prizes

    Participants often include programmers, designers, and project managers, and the goal is to create a working prototype or proof of concept by the end of the event.

  • Anyone can apply regardless of attendance to Outer Edge LA or hackathon experience. We will be selecting participants based on the application they submit to ensure everyone has an excellent community experience.

  • We will let you know within that week. You will then have 48 hours to claim your hacker ticket on Eventbrite!

  • Wifi, meals, drinks, snacks, and some other fun surprises :). We’ll also have leading mentors available to help teams with their projects.

  • Your person, a valid ID and a computer is all you need!

  • Our hackathon is an in-person only event. We want IRL community coming together to share an incredible experience.

  • The Outer Edge LA hackathon will take place on Saturday March 18th & Sunday March 19th 2023.

    Check in time: 9am, Saturday 18th

    End of hackathon: 9pm Sunday 19th

    Winners announcement: Monday at Outer Edge LA!

  • The Outer Edge LA Hackathon will take place at the Famecast building in Santa Monica, CA.

  • The hackathon venue closes at 10pm. If you need a place to stay overnight, check out our partners: PodShare.

  • Parking can be found on surrounding streets. Parking at the nearby DMV should be available on Sunday but please look for signs saying otherwise.

  • Simply press the “Apply to Hack” button on the page above and complete the form to submit your application! Once your application is accepted, you’ll receive an email with further details.

  • You can mention the people you’re thinking of collaborating with when applying for the hackathon.

    Coming alone? We’ll help put you on a team/project that requires your skillset!

  • The theme for the hackathon will be announced on Saturday, March 18 at 7:30am.

  • We will have a $10k first prize and additional prizes + bounties. Should be a pretty epic slate we have lined up.

  • Yes. Approved hackers having submitted a completed Hackathon project will receive a complimentary GA pass to Outer Edge LA 2023.
